HostBridge recently worked with a property, casualty and life insurance company to help it understand how its core business application was consuming mainframe resources. The firm needed a way to easily do CICS application performance management and monitoring (APM) for its mission-critical mainframe applications.

When the project began, the mainframe was a black box from a performance perspective. No one knew what was going on inside of it. No one could track and correlate mainframe processing to the outside world, and no one could understand what was happening as a result of requests sent to the third-party, mainframe CICS application.

The company uses Splunk, so by adding the HostBridge Transaction Analytics Connector (HTAC), it was able to finally understand the performance of its third party, CICS core business application. In this technical presentation, HostBridge CEO Russ Teubner shares the details of how he worked with this customer to put CICS performance data onto Splunk dashboards, providing previously hidden insights about mainframe application performance.
