HostBridge® v6.62 improves integration and optimization for users of CICS® TS V5.1 and IBM® System z
Runs more integration workloads and socket apps on the zIIP, reducing MIPS consumption and ownership costs
STILLWATER, Okla., May 13, 2013 – HostBridge® Technology, provider of high-precision Web services integration and optimization software for IBM® CICS® and System z®, has released HostBridge v6.62. Complementing recent enhancements introduced in IBM CICS Transaction Server V5.1, HostBridge v6.62 is designed to help organizations increase operational efficiency and service agility when using System z, CICS, CICS socket applications, and DB2® in enterprise integration scenarios.
“Our customers integrate CICS applications with an ever-widening array of Web, cloud, and mobile resources,” Russ Teubner, founder and CEO of HostBridge Technology said, “and they are always looking for better ways to increase efficiency and reduce the cost of ownership. To help them achieve these objectives, we maintain strong working relationships with product groups at IBM, and we engineer our technologies to exploit and build upon the best IBM technologies. In this spirit, HostBridge v6.62 offers a range of enhancements to help CICS customers save time, cut costs, and make money.”
HostBridge version 6.62 improves key integration and optimization technologies and aligns them more tightly for higher performance, efficiency, and business value. New improvements include:
- More robust HBz (HostBridge for zIIP) server. This HostBridge component, enabling 100% of integration/Web services/SOA workloads to run on the System z Integrated Information Processor (zIIP), now runs faster to further reduce costs.
- Tighter integration between HostBridge Socket Support and HBz server. Organizations that replace CICS Socket Support (EZASOKET) with HostBridge Socket Support cut MIPS consumption on the general processor, shift MIPS to specialty engines, and thus reduce mainframe TCO.
- Added support for Rational Business Developer applications (formerly Enterprise Generation Language).
“With HostBridge v6.62,” Teubner added, “organizations are able to improve the reliability, availability, and serviceability of critical IBM mainframe assets, particularly when those assets are integrated with other information systems such as enterprise applications and platforms, Web applications, service-oriented architectures (SOAs), and cloud deployments.”
