HostBridge® announces 3270 emulation elimination with WIRE
WIRE, the Web Interface Rules Engine delivers web interfaces for
CICS® in multiple modes at lower cost
STILLWATER, Okla., April 30, 2010 – HostBridge® Technology, provider of integration software for CICS® and System z, announces WIRE, the Web Interface Rules Engine, for HostBridge v6. With WIRE, organizations can provide all their users – customers, partners, and employees – with full-featured GUI access to the mainframe. Organizations use WIRE to modernize the mainframe, replace 3270 terminal emulation products, and eliminate the associated expense of seat-based licensing, maintenance, and technical support.
WIRE, a .NET-based facility, allows organizations to rapidly deploy web interfaces for CICS applications and mainframe data in three presentation modes for different user groups – from veteran terminal operators to the Web 2.0 generation of customers.
Classic Mode replicates the look and feel of a 3270 terminal screen for seasoned users. The Classic screen at top right reproduces a 3270 layout with function keys automatically generated and displayed below.
Standard Mode preserves 3270 functionality while simplifying display for those who have less experience or prefer a web look and feel. In the Standard screen in the middle, XSLT style sheets have been employed, and text entry boxes replace fields. Other style elements can be updated as well.
- Enhanced Mode delivers a rich, full-featured Web 2.0 experience – the kind today’s employees, partners, and customers prefer. As the third screen shows, Enhanced Mode can incorporate virtually any style element or web object, integrate data or business logic from any source, and present these elements in appealing new composites or mashups.
WIRE is the rapid web-enablement complement to HostBridge mainframe integration software. HostBridge makes CICS applications integration-ready by converting CICS data to XML documents and re-orchestrating complex transaction sequences into single automated web services. WIRE extends these capabilities, consuming HostBridge XML/web services and modernizing mainframe output.
WIRE features a full suite of object-oriented .NET components. Within the WIRE IDE, developers can configure WIRE’s data dictionary and XSLT templates, and rapidly design, develop, debug, and deploy flexible, feature-rich, mainframe-based web applications.
Enterprises that appreciate efficiency, economy, and elegance will appreciate these WIRE benefits:
- 3270 emulation elimination. WIRE is an ideal solution to replace 3270 terminal emulation and eliminate the high cost seat licensing, maintenance, and support.
- High performance, high fidelity. By exploiting HostBridge
XML/web services output, WIRE outperforms web-enablement competitors. Running
under CICS and orchestrating/automating even the most complex transaction
processes as a single service on the mainframe, HostBridge (1) delivers the
mainframe levels of performance enterprises require with none of the latency
that plagues middle-tier integration products, and (2) reproduces source application
logic and data with extremely high fidelity.
